Art Contest Take 2

  • Google Calendar ICS

How about another art contest? This time, we’re going to do things a little differently!

One, art pieces should represent a CONCEPT from Tales of the Diversity. Sailing, exploration, discovery, cultural diversity… or whatever you pick out from reading the books!

Two, I’m looking for PICTURES. Paintings, drawings, posed photos of toys: as long as the final art piece is an image of some kind!

You can submit as many pictures as you like between TODAY and JUNE 22th, to author@karlissaj.com. No crude content please.

Two winners this time: Author’s Pick and Best Representing the Book (i.e. using characters or a scene from The Quest or The Loss to illustrate the concept).

Contest winners (and possibly runners-up) will be shared on my blog. Winners will also receive a $10 Coles gift card.

Tales of the Diversity Art Contest

In “The Loss,” I continue the story of the Diversity and her crew, as started in “The Quest.” The Diversity is a unique ship with a unique group of races aboard, and I’ve decided it would be fun to see what spins different artists take on them!

Rules: The art piece must feature either the Diversity or crewmember(s), or both. It can be of just one crewmember, or a few, or many - the choice is yours! It must be submitted between January 1 and February 15, 2020, to author@karlissaj.com. No inappropriate or crude content.

Tips: A description of the Diversity and her crew can be found in chapter two of “The Quest.” You can enter as many art pieces as you like.

Winners: A winner will be chosen for three categories: most accurate to book, most unique style, and author’s favourite. Winners will each receive a ten dollar Coles gift card.

Short Story Writing Contest

  • Google Calendar ICS

Are you a fan of short stories? Do you love to write? Is there a story idea in your mind, though you haven’t had the chance to write it down yet? Writing is an activity I enjoy greatly, and I’d like to encourage other people to put their tales to paper.

So I’m hosting a short story writing contest! Winners will receive a Coles gift card and a free copy of one of my books, and these winners will be chosen for two categories: Best Work (most well-written, in terms of story flow, grammar, and bringing the reader into the tale) and Author’s Favourite (my personal pick).

Rules: the story can be any genre, and up to 4,000 words long. Each contestant can submit as many stories as they like. There is to be no crude language or sexual content.

Timeline: the contest ends midnight on August 11th, 2016.

Submission: send your completed story to author@karlissaj.com, along with whether you’d be interested in having your story posted on one of my blogs (with an acknowledgement to you as the author) should you be one of the winners.

Happy writing!
